How to Verify Your Website in Australia

Before you learn how to create campaigns, it is important to remember that you will only be allowed to upload data and products to the merchant center after you verify your website. When you verify and claim the store, it tells Google you are the authorized owner of the site. This allows Google to freely associate the website’s URL with the newly opened Merchant account. The trouble is that many people may not know how to do this. Here is what you need to do to confirm that indeed, you own the website and the Merchant Centre account.

Ensure that the links you provide and the product data match the URL and the domain. Thus, Google will only process items submitted through the domain registered in the Merchant Centre account.

  • What you need to do

Enter your site’s URL in your Merchant Centre

This step must be followed if you did not enter your site’s URL when creating a Merchant Centre account. To do this, follow the following steps:

  • Login into the Merchant Center account
  • Click on Business information
  • Go to the page menu and open the business page by clicking on it.
  • Click on Open the website
  • Enter the URL
  • Save by clicking on save.

If you are using multiple website domains, you will need a multi-client account to verify your website URL. But once the parent account claims the top-level domain, the sub-accounts will be allowed to submit the products for the domain. You can also decide to have each sub-account verified and claim a different website URL. Here are some of the things you may need to do.

  • Set up a multi-client account

The multi-client accounts allow a person to submit data feeds for several domains. Each of the clients may need to have a distinct URL and store name. Note that when you request a multi-client account, your current Google Merchant account becomes a sub-account in the multi-client account. But if you have multiple websites with similar content, you need to be a little bit careful. Google disapproves accounts with the same content.

Note that multi-client accounts are only ideal for large scale or multi-country retailers. So, the easiest way to connect to multiple Merchant Centre account is to request the account administrator to add you as a user. But if you don’t want to use this shortcut, ensure that the content is not similar.
